It’s playoff time in the nation’s No. 1 hotbed.
Last week, New Jersey completed several of its county tournaments. Among the champions: Don Bosco Prep (Bergen) and Seton Hall Prep (Essex).
Yesterday, Nassau County started postseason action. Among the highlights: defending New York Class B state champion Garden City beat Bethpage 17-4.
Today, we will learn the seedings for the Section 1 Tournament. Yorktown is expected to be the No. 1 seed in Class B, but even though the Huskers are unbeaten in Section 1, it’s not a given based on the won-loss formula used.
Suffolk County postseason action starts on Thursday, May 16. For the playoff brackets in the ultra competitive Section 11 Class A, click here.

Here’s a link to a recent article on FCIAC.net which lists the ranking of FCIAC teams for qualification to the post-season tournament, results do not include this past weekend’s action. Personally I don’t think seedings have any particular effect upon a team’s success in the post-season, playing well matters much more. But for those who care deeply about such things, here’s the lastest until the results are updated later this week. Games for the Top 8 get underway Saturday at the home field of the first four seeds.

Farmingdale leads Hicksville 4-3 at the half in a Nassau County Class A opening-round playoff game at Hofstra University.
Farmingdale holds on for a 6-5 win to earn its first county semifinal appearance since 2011.
8-5. New Canaan over Rye.. Congrats to NC, an obviously very talented team.
The main negative for Rye was too many unforced errors ( NC “s also suffered from undorced errors and errant shots shots in the 1st half). You can’t give away offensive opportunities and unnessarily give the ball back to a team like NC. Credit as well to NC’s D which was stingy in terms of letting Rye penetrate.
The good news was that I thought on the whole Ryes D looked good and against a skilled NC offence. Also II think everyone at the game would agree that the score could have easily been at least 7-6 with one NC score coming from a Rye pole slipping and falling down allowing a point blank score + Rye missing a point blank shot shooting it right into the NC goalies stick (credit to the goalie’ reflexes). Rye also, dominated FO’s.
Eliminate those unforced errors. A goes tough tune up for the play-offs.
