LL_Game-Day-CROPPED16It’s the final Saturday of the regular season for many teams in the nation’s No. 1 hotbed for lacrosse, the NY/NJ/CT tristate region, and it will be a wet one.

  1. slacrosse says:

Rye winning its League was good- but expected. A good season ending cap would be to really step it up and for the first time pull off an upset and beat a clearly favored IP today or New Canaan on Tuesday.

    • IP will dominate says:

it will start with the face-offs as IP will dominate that area, then IP’s defense will shut down Rye offensively. It will not be close.

      • Garnet fan says:

Ip was wondering what u think . Your faceoff prediction didn’t seem to hold up. Go Garnets!

      • JR says:

        Final?

      • slacrosse says:

Really nice win for Rye as playoffs get close.
Rye had a very good game on O and D ( with a few ball-watching lapses) Moved the ball well and had the chance to shoot often on porous IP defense and goalie. Dominated FO in 1st half but may have ended up fairly even.

        • IP will dominate says:

nice win for Rye, shocked that face- off for IP didn ‘t dominate as Rye face-off has been pretty bad for most of the year. But good for the Garnet!

          • Garnet fan says:

Rye face off dominated first 3 games only bad vs Somers and one other game .Other games similar today face off wise

            Plus Santangelo had 6g 1 a

          • slacrosse says:

SO VERY wrong in your FO comment about Rye!

          • really? says:

rye was dominated by the Fox Lane kid 2x, I think slacrosse u even mentioned it on one of ur posts. The Harrison kid is very good and I’m sure dominated- may of lost the war but won the Faceoff battle!

          • slacrosse says:

            really

Get “real”. Was Rye’s FO kid dominated in a few games- yeah. Is he one of the top FO kids in the Section-yeah

  2. lax says:

    No Bronxville vs. John Jay?

  3. LaxLessons.com says:

St. Anthony’s has jumped out to a 6-2 first-quarter lead at Yorktown. David Rivoir has two goals. A 3-0 run by Friars to end the quarter.

  4. Luv Lax says:

    Final: Shen 5, L/P 6 WooHoo!!!!!

    • LaxLessons.com says:

Shenendehowa (11-3) dealt Yorktown one of its two losses this season, of course. With the win, LP improves to 6-10.

  5. LaxLessons.com says:

SWR has jumped out to a 4-1 lead on GC midway through the first.

  6. slacrosse says:

    12-7 Rye win over IP

    • SALax says:

This season has absolutely no logic or consistency. Rye looses to both JJ who beats Manhasset and looses to Somers who loose to IP who looses to Rye (btw nice convincing win by Rye)

  7. sec1 says:

    Town 12-12 OT

  8. sec1 says:

    13-12 St A in OT

  9. LaxLessons.com says:

Molloy gets his fourth to start OT. St. A’s wins 13-12.

  10. rlaxfamily says:

Nick Mariano had the greatest shot in today’s St. Anothony’s game! I can’t wait to see the high-light of that amazing shot again.

  11. Sailors Fan says:

Somers 7, Hen Hud 4 (half) game delayed due to thunder and lightning

  12. LaxLessons.com says:

In another overtime thriller, Garden City defeats Shoreham-Wading River 10-9 to deal the Wildcats their first loss in the matchup of defending state champions.

  13. catholic parent says:

Kennedy Catholic 6 North Salem 5 OT

Kennedy Lost 12-0 last time to NS

Kennedy Catholic Leagues Champs for second year in a row!!!!!

    Great job guys!

Bergen Catholic leads Don Bosco Prep 4-3 at halftime of the Bergen County championship game.

  20. slacrosse says:

    Jay update?

  21. slacrosse says:

    Jay score?

  22. laxin says:

Bville got up early on Jay. 3-0 Jay got a few penalties and Bville took advantage and controlled most of 1st qtr. 2nd qtr JJ settled in but was down 6-2 at half. Jay had a huge 3rd qtr controlling 10 minutes of the clock and cut lead to 7-6 entering 4th. Bville won majority of the faces offs and controlled the rest of the game and took a 9-6 before jj scored with 4 secs. left. Very tough and physical game from both sides. Also was impressed by how many big D1 coaches were there.

  23. WestLax says:

Section 1 final rankings going into playoffs

    1. Yorktown – still top dog should cruise to State tournament
    2. Bronxville – SWR and Rotanz waiting (great game vs GC)
    3. John Jay – could be six as well have not seen Lamberts best
    4. Rye – outplayed IP New Cannan next
    5. Somers – not sure what team will show in secrionals
    6. Mamaroneck – watch out for L/P
    7. Lakeland/Panas – might win it all playing really well
    8. Mahopac – should be a great A tourney
    9. Arlington – need to prove they are real
    10. Putnam Valley – playing for 2nd in C
    10. Hen Hud – F/O guy goes 80% they will Bronxville.

Player of the Year – Nick Mariano
Coach of the year – Brian Dooley Rye

  24. Mrblue says:

Arlington loses another tough one in 4th quarter to a very solid new Fairfield Team. Penalties 12-2 in favor of New Fairfield. Refs struggled to say the least. Final 3 goals all scored on man up for NF in last 4-5 mins of game. Refs lost control of game slowly which ended in a brief melee that could have very easily gotten ugly. Arlington loses two of their starting poles for Yorktown game on Monday because they were ejected from pulling 2 players off their goalie. No fights, but 3 players ejected. Total Joke. Arlington coach pulled kids off the field with 13 secs left to end game. Bad way to end a competitive game.

  25. wonder says:

do monday games count in seeding points?

    • seedings says:

Yes monday is the last day that count towards seedings. Games outside of NY DO NOT count towards seedings. But also does not hurt you. You divide your total points by how many games are against NY hs or affliated teams.

Here is the breakdown for points for seedings:

      Seeding Point Values
      – Four points for every win, regardless of class
      – Two points for every tie, regardless of class
      – No deduction of points for losses
      – Two bonus points for playing a team who has a winning percentage of .750, or
above- teams receive this if they win or lose, determined at seeding day
      – One bonus point for playing a team who has a winning percentage between .500
and .749- teams receive this if they win or lose, determined at seeding day

      – ** Bonus points will only be awarded for NYS Federation games, as seeding will only
come from these games(these are teams in NYSPHSAA and its Affiliates- CHSAA,
      PSAL, NYIS)

  26. Old Rugger says:

So based on the above and some assumtions on todays games Sect 1B looks like (but I may be off)
    1. Town vs. Bye
    2. Rye vs. Bye

    5. Nyack vs. Horace Greeley
    6. Eastchester vs. Byram Hills
    7. Brewster vs. Tappan Zee
