They’re the two best teams in Smithtown.
But that doesn’t begin to explain the importance of this year’s annual showdown between Smithtown West (13-2) and Smithtown East (12-2).
After all, they’re also two of the two teams not only in Suffolk County, but the entire tristate region, and, in fact, the nation. (Both teams have been nationally ranked this season.)
This year’s running of the Bulls is set for 4:30 p.m. at Smithtown East. Watch it live on MSGVarsity.com.
Also today in Suffolk County, Ward Melville plays at Sachem East, Northport is on the road at Sachem North and West Islip visits Bay Shore.
Among the Nassau County clashes, Syosset plays at Plainview JFK, Friends hosts Mineola and Port Washington hosts Hicksville.
There’s a big FCIAC showdown as Darien, fresh off a huge win over Ridgefield, plays another FCIAC title contender, Greenwich, at 5 p.m. at Cardinal Stadium.
In a prep showdown, Brunswick hosts intrastate rival Salisbury at 7 p.m. at Brunswick in Greenwich.
It’s a light day in the Hudson Valley. Among the Section 1 games on the schedule: Clarkstown South hosts Suffern and North Rockland hosts Clarkstown North in a pair of Rockland County encounters. Also on the slate, Arlington visits Irvington, New Rochelle plays at Sleepy Hollow, Pelham visits Mamaroneck and Hastings plays at Ardsley.
