Some high school teams in parts of the nation have already started their regular seasons.
But among teams in the nation’s No. 1 hotbed for lacrosse, the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut tristate region, we’re still a few weeks away from the first openers.
So that gives us some time to continue traversing the tristate to get your preseason picks on various highly contested races.
We now turn our attention to the always intriguing CHSAA in New York, and the Division AAA race.
St. Anthony’s has won the championship four years in a row, but the three-game season series, capped by the title game, has featured plenty of drama and plot twists.
So who do you think will prevail this season? The Friars or the Flyers?

We just wrapped up a poll which asked, “Who do you think should be the favorite to win the Suffolk County (Section 11, N.Y.) Division 1 title?”
In close voting, West Islip edged out Smithtown West by just five votes. The Lions compiled 26 percent of the vote to the Bulls’ 22 percent. Ward Melville (20 percent) placed third.
In our poll prior to that, we asked “Who do you think should be the favorite to win the Section 1 (N.Y.) Class A title?”
Lakeland/Panas, with 23 percent of the total vote, inched out a one-vote win over Mahopac, with defending champion Mamaroneck finishing third and Arlington fourth.
Our previous poll question was on the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference title. In heavy voting, Ridgefield was your choice. Darien, Greenwich and New Canaan finished in a three-way tie for second, with Wilton just a vote behind that trio.
We started asking for your thoughts on a tristate conference championship with the Nassau County (Section 8, N.Y.) Conference 1 race. Syosset was your choice.
