The National Letter of Intent fall signing period runs Nov. 14-21.

That’s when student-athletes who have committed to attend colleges who offer athletic scholarships make those commitments official.

However, especially given the accelerated pace of verbal commitments, some commits have a change of heart before they are required to sign their name on the dotted line.

Case in point, Tim Nowak.

The St. John the Baptist (N.Y.) senior attackman/midfielder verbally committed to Marquette University earlier this year.

But since then, the 6-foot, 175-pound righty has had a change of heart.

Nowak now plans on signing an NLI with Hofstra University.

We caught up with Tim to discuss his change of course and other topics.

What were the main factors in your decision to commit to Hofstra and decommit from Marquette?
After a while of thinking, I decided to decommit from Marquette because of the distance and weather. After visiting a few schools and getting to talk to the coaches, I felt a comfortable fit with Hofstra because of the distance and the great lacrosse program they have. It is also a lot easier for my family to come see my games.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I also considered Sacred Heart, Stony Brook, and UAlbany after I decommited.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I believe that my strengths as a player are my shot and my passing abilities. I am not a fast-paced player, but I love to operate behind the cage.

What areas of your game have you been working to improve on?
Over the summer I have been working on rehabilitating my broken leg. I have also been working on strength, speed and my finishing abilities around 5 and 5.

Who have been some of the biggest influences on you during your development as a player?
My parents are the biggest influence on my game. They always push me and try to make me a better player. Also, my close family friend, Ron LaValle, was the man who introduced me to the game and taught me the game.

What travel team did you play on and what were some of the big showcase events you participated in last summer?
I played with Team Long Island and attended Champ Camp.

Interesting that MU head coach Amplo is the former top assistant at Hofstra.
