Hy Joe, How did you miss this one?? Found this by accident. Looks like a tournament has formed to replace the Empire Games.

This is an idea right now – nothing more – and still in the exploratory stages. Long way to go before it becomes a reality. They have not even secured any sponsors. It’s extremely unlikely the Empire State Cup will ever happen. Let alone this year. Think it would be great if it somehow did happen.
It’s funny on the Empire State Cup site how it says “NAME OF SPONSOR HERE” for where they hope to have it branded. Is this just a money maker trying to capitalize on ESG concept?
I know Coach V from my affiliation with the Powell Brothers. He said this is a definite for 2012. Coaches and tryouts are pretty much set. Inside lacrosse and a committee from upstate hand picked the coaches very carefully, and will be involved also in selection of the the teams. Tony V his son who is a facilitator also said they really want the regions best players. And they are trying to oufit them with some SWAG!!. So this should be interesting.
