Eastchester won’t have to look far to find out where many of its points will be coming from this season.
The Eagles return one of the top scorers in Section 1 in senior attackman/midfielder Tom Cirillo, who registered 57 goals and 12 assists last season.
Cirillo will play his college lax at Division III national champion Salisbury.
But before that, he has one more varsity season with Eastchester.
Now, here’s Tom’s perspective on the season:
What have you been doing to get ready for the season?
Personally, I‘ve been going to the gym five or six days a week since football ended, been trying to put on weight and continue to shoot and practice. As a team we have been participating in a winter league and doing captain practices to get ready.
How does your schedule look, what games are you looking forward to most, and who are some of your scrimmages against?
Our schedule is tough just like last year, but I feel we are going to have a strong team this year. We only lost three players to graduation from last year.
The games I look forward to are the Pelham games and the Scarsdale games. I look forward to Pelham because my whole family is from Pelham and my mom still teaches there. Scarsdale is a little neighboring rivalry. I believe we scrimmage Fordham Prep again this year. That is always a fun scrimmage.
What player or players on your team do you think will surprise some people this season?
We have a lot of young talent coming up in this freshman class. Liam Gredler and Jack Longlade are young poles who I think will impress some people. Of course, Joey Arcidiacono, our goalie, will play a huge role and will turn some heads this year. Also players like Pat Guido, Rob Carinci and Matt Gendusa will play huge roles.
What do you think the strength of your team will be this year?
We have so much experience in the net, with Joey. Also we will have a lot of experience on offense, with guys who have had starting roles on varsity since freshman year.
How do you view the race in your league and who do you think some of the contending teams will be?
I believe we will be up there, but we have a competitive league from top to bottom. Anyone can win any game.
