Section 1 has no shortage of talented goaltenders.
Kris Alleyne is high on the list.
The Clarkstown South senio has signed a National Letter of Intent to accept a scholarship offer from Rutgers.
Alleyne is one of three returning all-section netminders, along with Byram Hills’ Andrew Larrabee (Notre Dame) and Mamaroneck’s Jake Danehy (Colgate).
Alleyne will join a group of current or former Clarkstown South D-I players that includes Zach Widbin (Harvard), Chris Hagerty (Quinnipiac), Scott Rickli (Delaware), Kevin Shea (Stony Brook), Tim Shea (Albany), Dan Ritter (Albany), John Giordano (Quinnipiac), Mark Lieval (Stony Brook) and Nick Glasser (UMass).
But Alleyne isn’t focused on Rutgers just yet.
He has plenty of goals for this coming season – his final varsity campaign.
Here’s Kris’ perspective on the 2012 season:
How does your schedule look, what games are you looking forward to most, and who are some of your scrimmages against?
Our schedule for this season looks promising. We play some strong teams from across the river as well as our county rivals.
The games I’m looking forward to most are Lakeland Panas and Suffern. I’m really looking forward to playing my WestRock teammates from L/P. I’ve never beaten Suffern on the lacrosse field, so I want to make a statement with my last opportunity.
These games will both be great tests for us as will Arlington and Horace Greeley. We will be scrimmaging Somers, Red Hook and Valley Central.
What player or players on your team do you think will surprise some people this season?
I’m expecting big things from our leading scorer from last season, junior Joe Buzzetti. He’s been working hard this off-season and I think he’ll surprise some people in the section.
What do you think the strength of your team will be this year?
I think our defensive unit will be the strength of our team. Despite the loss of two senior starters from last year, I believe seniors Colin Quinn, Mike Kavanagh and the rest of our defense will step up and be able to keep us in every game.
How do you view the race in your league and who do you think some of the contending teams will be?
After the past few years of disappointment, I think we are ready to challenge Suffern for both the league and the county.

This kid is sick in goal but I don’t think South has enough offence to beat Suffern.
As a former westrock player with kris, this kid is the real deal in net… cant wait to see great things from him this year and for four more years at RU!
