The number of college committed seniors at Yorktown has climbed to eight.
As we told you last week on Twitter and our “Updated recruiting review and commitment rundown,” three more Huskers made their choices official late last week.
We profiled two of them — the twin brother tandem of Fitim and Gzim Lajqi — in a story late last week.
Now let’s meet the third Husker senior to commit last week.
Midfielder Vin Mcliverty will be continuing his college career at Springfield College.
Mcliverty is a 5-foot-10, 180-pound righty midfielder with good stick skills.
Now, he’s a Q&A with Vin on his commitment:
What were the main factors in your decision?
I wanted a smaller school atmosphere within several hours of home and one that had the academic curriculum that I am interested in. I also wanted a well-established lacrosse program that will give me the opportunity to develop and play in college.
What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
The other schools that I visited and were interested in included Keene State and Endicott.
What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My strengths as a player include my hard work ethic and my willingness to learn. I have a strong shot and I see the field well. My style of play is aggressive and physical.
What areas of your game do you think you need to improve on?
My foot speed. I am currently working with a speed and conditioning coach in order to be ready for the spring.
When did you first realize you had the potential to play at the college level?
When I began receiving recruiting letters from numerous programs stating I could contribute to their program.
What were some of the big summer showcase events you’ve competed in the last couple of years and how did you do at them?
Some of the summer showcases included Showtime, Elite 100, Champ Camp and The Syracuse Summer Shootout. While participating in these showcases, I developed and improved my game.
