A familiar name to lacrosse fans in New York State has joined Army’s coaching staff.

Former Mahopac and Cornell University standout Kyle Georgalas (shown at right next to Cornell head coach Ben DeLuca in above photo), who also served as an assistant coach at Cornell, has been named an assistant coach at Army by head coach Joe Alberici.

Georgalas replaces former Army assistant Mike Murphy, who left West Point to take over as head coach at Colgate.

At Army, Georgalas will be reunited with his father, former Mahopac High School and Major League Lacrosse coach Ted Georgalas. The elder Georgalas has been a volunteer assist at Army the last three years.

Kyle Georgalas, a 6-foot-2 defenseman, was a two-year captain, a first-team all-Ivy selection and an honorable-mention all-American for Cornell before becoming an assistant at his alma mater.
