Ward Melville won the Battle of the Hot Beds championship for the second time in the last three years, defeating West Islip 8-3 in yesterday’s title game played at the University of Delaware.
Ward Melville defeated the Florida Hammerheads 8-3 in the semifinals. West Islip advanced to the title game by pulling out a 5-4 win over SuperStar ’12 Blue Elite.
In the quarterfinals, Ward Melville beat the Golden State Titans 9-3.
Standouts for Ward Melville during the four-day event included rising seniors Michael Rastivo (attack), Sean Finnegan (defense) and John Edmonds (defense) and rising juniors Christian Mazzone (midfield), Jack Bruckner (midfield) and Mike Zerbo (defense).
All told, nearly 70 teams competed.
