Saturday’s 11 a.m. showdown between Haverford (Pa.) and Darien at the third annual Checking for Cancer Classic in Hanover, Pa., is now officially all that. (Darien is shown above after winning its sixth straight state title last year.)
And it’s a matchup of the consensus top two teams in the nation — No. 1 (Haverford) vs. No. 2 (Darien) — with the release of the first Xcellent 20 national boys lacrosse rankings today by MaxPreps.com.

The last time Darien went to this tournament (playing Conestoga) the result wasn’t good for Darien. Will be interesting to see what happens this time around. I just voted in the poll and had to go with Haverford by +2 goals.
What I think could push this game in favor of Haverford is that they’ve already played 6 games vs Darien’s 2 games!! That could “show” IMO.
On top of that they’re undefeated including a win over the MIAA’s Boys Latin.
Would like to see Darien win but got to go with Haverford by a couple.
