New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick’s love for lacrosse is hardly a secret.
After all, he was captain of the lacrosse team at Wesleyan College.
But his passion for the game remains as high as ever, despite his day job.
For starters, his son, Steve, is a senior defenseman at Rutgers.
Belichick also remains involved in the game, keeping in touch with college coaches and current and former players.
Shortly after the Patriots’ big 31-28 win over the Indianapolis Colts today, Belichick was seen on the field tossing around a lacrosse ball.
And it didn’t escape the notice of the media.
Several reports on the sighting surfaced tonight, in such outlets as the New York Times and CBSSports.com. The CBSSports.com update said Belichick was seen “playing lacrosse toss with another person.”
Newsflash: That “other person” was perhaps the best player in the game today – former Hopkins star and current MLL standout Paul Rabil. ESPNBoston.com added more info in a report headlined “Belichick celebrates … by playing lacrosse” filed late tonight that you can read by clicking here.
If you’re a regular reader here, Belichick’s love for lax is hardly breaking news. Check out this report and video posted in October of last year.
With the win, the Patriots (8-2) remained in a first-place tie in the AFC East with the Jets (8-2), who picked up a big win of their own today, rallying for a last-second 30-27 win over the Texans after blowing a 16-point fourth-quarter lead.

Supposedly Belichick is going to coach lax whenever he decides to hang it up in the NFL.
And 20 minutes later some Dad will text to his friends that Belichick doesn’t know the game because his son isn’t playing.
lol!
Don’t worry about Bill…Did you see what he did to Randy Moss? lol.
Haha. No doubt. But something tells me Belichick would have NO patience for overbearing, overinvolved parents.
Shout out to Belichick for his love for lax – but next Monday I hope the Jets show him and the Pats no mercy!
Wonder if he was tossing the ball around at about midnight last night?
Hi, great write-up. Bill Belichick definitely did it again. The Pats dominated on all fronts in this one, so good luck to NY next year – shall the best team win again! Anyhow, cool blog… I’m subscribed to your RSS feed now so thanks again!
He’ll have plenty of time to lax it up now. GO JETS!
