In what may have been the Division III game of the season so far, third-ranked Salisbury edged No. 1 Gettysburg 11-10 in overtime before more than 2,500 fans at Gettysburg and several players from the Hudson Valley/Long Island/Connecticut region played big roles.
Senior attackmen Jake DeLillo of Yorktown (left) had two goals and Mike Winter of Port Washington had one goal for Salisbury (10-0).
Former Yorktown player Tim Kurpis is a starting defenseman for Gettysburg (9-1).
Also of note, former Somers star JoJo Marasco, a freshman attackman/midfielder at Syracuse, earned a spot on the Big East Conference weekly honor roll. Marasco had three points, including a career-high two goals, in a 9-8 overtime win against Hobart. Yesterday, Marasco had a career-high five points, with one goal and four assists, in a 20-6 win over Villanova. For the season, Marasco has five goals and seven assists for 12 points in seven games.
