The Garden City Trojans fell to Sayville in a squeaker last year in the state quarterfinals.
But the Trojans appear to be the Class B team to beat on Long Island this season given the fact that 11 players are planning on continuing playing the sport at the next level.
We’ll be hearing more about the Trojans in the days to come, but today, I touched base with coach Steve Finnell on those recruits and more.
The Trojans’ schedule includes a couple of intriguing April games against regional powers: vs. Yorktown at Haverford College in Pennsylvania and vs. New Canaan, which is coached by Finnell’s former Duke teammate, Alex Whitten.
And in case you missed the post from earlier today, Garden City is ranked seventh nationally in the Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse Preseason National Rankings.
Now, here’s the complete list of Garden City’s 11 committed players. And remember, for a rundown of committed players from the Hudson Valley/Long Island/Connecticut region, click here.

Fischer is to be commended for picking Harvard. This kid got AA as a sophomore – and could have gone anywhere. He weighed academics equally with lax in making a great choice.
Thanks for sharing this impressive list Joe and Coach Finnell.
