Madden NFL. Tiger Woods PGA Tour. MLB 2K9. NHL. NBA Live. Grand Slam Tennis. Fight Night. NCAA Football.

There’s even a video game for NASCAR. And Pool, too.

But lacrosse? Nothing. Not yet, at least.

But there’s a movement to change all that — and one particular one has been gaining attention.

Check out this Facebook group petitioning EA Sports to launch a lacrosse video game. You’ll note the number of members is 163,000 … and counting.

Meanwhile, keep an eye out for a couple of soon-to-be-released movies about lax.

First, there’s “Transition.” It chronicles a lacrosse player’s fight to return to action after battling cancer. Here’s the link to the movie’s Web site.

And there’s “Warrior,” which features “Twilight” star Kellan Lutz. For more on that, click here.

Joe my boy … long time no talk.

As you may or may not remember I kicked around this very idea for a possible “Dome” entry a while back.

My feelings on this are simple: It’s categorically absurd that EA has not delved into the idea of a lacrosse game. Simply put, there’s just too much such game could offer to warrant ignoring it as long as they have.

You have huge stadiums, you have storied programs (assuming it’s based on college teams) and you have the potential for eye-popping graphis ah la Madden due to the scope of the game on the field.

I would be a bit concerned about game play, but if they approached this with the NHL series in mind, it could most definitely work, provided they find a way to make seamless life-like player motion go horizontally rather than vertically.

The only drawback to such a game is you really have to base it on college for it to have a full impact, but due to NCAA rules not one player that every played for a college team can be named in the game, so you get a lot of “Middie #22” nonsense.

I have full confidence that such a game, if backed by EA, would be a huge hit, especially online, where the trash-talking — at least in the NHL lobbies — is so ridiculous it borders on another lax-related web site we won’t name here.

Hope you all are having a great summer.

I’m not going to lie. I have to admit I was getting a little worried after there have been no Syracuse sightings for more than a week!

Cusey … What’s up stranger???? I challenge you to a game of Madden. LOL

  7. Syracuse says:

    Reigns,

You’d smoke me at Madden. Come find me in the NHL09 online world. I bring the reign and opponents feel the pain. I’m just saying …

There will be a lacrosse video game online, at least for Xbox360, which is downloadable. I do think lacrosse will have to gain alot of popularity before EA Sports will consider making a game. Even if 163,000 units of the video game were sold, that would only bring in 9.8 million dollars to EA, which I doubt would be enough to pay for the creation of the game. My point is, I don’t think there’s a big enough market for EA to want to take the chance on producing what could be a flop, in their eyes.

Yeh I definately wanna see this.
