The high school season is over, but there’s plenty going on lax-wise throughout the region, starting today.

And we’ll be updating you on all of it.

In Westchester, 42 youth teams are flocking to Yorktown High School for the Charlie Murphy Youth Tournament. You can read more about it here.

Later today, at John Jay High School, nearly 80 high-school age players from throughout the Westchester area will be participating in the inaugural Section 1 Showcase. For a look at the rosters and schedule, click here.

Tomorrow at 7 p.m., the senior all-star game will be held at Yorktown High School.

Then, on Wednesday, the all-section dinner is set for the Colonial Terrace in Cortlandt Manor.

In the coming days/weeks/months, we will be covering summer showcases, leagues and camps. We will also have recruiting news and notes.

Last night at midnight, we concluded our voting for attack on the LaxLessons.com all-region team and shifted to midfield. Then it’s on to defense and goaltender.

We’ll also be presenting our final LaxLessons.com Top 25 regional rankings and then our LaxLessons.com 20-member all-region team and all-region player of the year and coach of the year.

In some ways, the coming weeks will be even more fun and action-packed than during the season. So be sure to keep visiting here a few times each day so you don’t miss out on anything.

  4. Interest says:

  5. LAXIT says:

    Joe

  6. bermudalax says:

    LAXIT –

The Section 1 showcase was very well-organized and well-run. There were a good number of college coaches as well. In addition to the ones noted by Bermudalax, you can also add C.W. Post and Army.

I was only able to stay for a couple of games but did get to see each of the teams play.

It’s always tough when you play on a team you haven’t practiced with, but for the most part, I think the kids did get a good chance to showcase their skills.

I’d rather not mention names of players that impressed me because since I wasn’t at all of the games, it’s not really fair to throw out the names of those I happened to see while others may have done just as well if not better in games I didn’t see.

But here are the rosters for the games that I posted yesterday in case you missed it:

    laxdad and LAXIT –

To answer your question about the senior game at Yorktown, yes, I do plan on attending. It could be a little sketchy with the threat of thunderstorms. But I will post updates if there are any changes in the schedule.

  9. jade says:

I heard the john jay kids did very well at the showcase. Pray, Merlino, Daniello, Walter, Cavialo, Winters, Weil, Fletcher, Chen. I heard these kids would of all made empires.

  10. dee-up says:

jADE WOULD you be from JJ hmmmm!

  11. jade says:

Of course I am from JJ and proud of it

  12. observer says:

..jade that’s a stretch for 9 sophomores to make empires, maybe two or three maybe.. It was noticeable how many jay kids there were though. Future looks bright

  13. LAX says:

Merlino and Franklin are juniors not sophomores. Those kids are very good but I agree you can’t say all would make empires, a few JJ kids probably would’ve made it this year though. Pickel, Daniello, Walter, Weil, Franklin, Caviola among others would’ve had a chance.

  14. Lax Novice says:

Hopefully later on this summer Joe and Company will solicit votes to select the 1st Annual 2009 Hudson Valley Would’ve Made Empires team.

  15. slacrosse says:

Let’s just deal with NO BRAINERS. The ONLY rising Junior from Jay that merits a FOR SURE pick is Daniello.

Walters, others just fall into the mix with other rising Juniors inc. Mabus, Schulte from Town, Jack O’Callahan, McReddie from Rye and OTHERS I’m sure to be missing.

    NO BRAINERS INCLUDE:

    Brando (Pac-rising Sen)
    Interlichio (Town-rising Sen)
    McCormack (Rye-rising Senior)
    Daniello (Jay-rising Junior).

Know there are others. Just cant think of them right now.

Remember. We’re not talking maybe, probably, but DEFINATELY.

  16. slacrosse says:

    2008 ESG Phantom Team

“Close” to my “No Brainers” List above:

    Dieana (sp?-somers-rising sen)
    Fitzgerald (PV-rising sen)
    Petre (somers-rising sen)

Again sorry if inadvertently left out others that couldn’t think of. In some cases was not sure whether kids were rising seniors or had graduated.

  17. LAX says:

Attack: KI, Brando, Daniello, Fitzgerald, Petre
Middie: Honovich, Mccormick, Pfiffner, Walter, Deiana, Tullgren, Near, Weil, Allegra, O’Callahaghan
    Defense: Pickel, Schurr, Bastian, Caviola
    Goalies: Longo, McGuigan

Just throwing some names out there

  18. slacrosse says:

    Lax,

    Good list.

Yup. Knew I def was missing kids. Honovich, Pfiffner (I had thought he was a senior) Pickel prob should be be “no brainers” along with goalies Longo, McGuigan

Your other picks definitely in the mix.

  19. Joe Lombardi says:
