Anyone who knows Long Island lax knows there’s no such thing as a sure thing.
There’s far too much parity for that.
Just check out some of the teams still standing this week in Nassau and Suffolk.
So that means the title-game matchups are pretty much up for grabs.
What do you think about the matchups? Be sure to post your thoughts and score predictions as we continue looking at Championship Week throughout the region.

Baldwin is the Cinderella team. Fun story. I see one more upset for them … 8-7 over Hicksville.
Lynbrook 9 – Garden City 8 in OT. No respect all year for the 17-2 Owls of Lynbrook! Hicksville 8 Baldwin 6.
Agreed Petey. Lynbrook has been under everyone’s radar, even Joe who has done such a fantastic job with this groundbreaking site. They’re a nice team to watch.

I’d love to hear more from those who think WM will beat WI. Yeah their D is great but after losing to them already and having the motivation of last year’s devastating loss to Syosset I just don’t see WI being denied. Thoughts?
I agree Pequa. After St. A’s, WI is definately the best team in this whole region.
There’s no shame in having a loss. Ward Melville has a few of them. To their credit they beat WI though That was then, this is now. It’s for keeps.
WI 11, WM 6
[…] Nassau, Suffolk […]
I do think that overall WI is a better team than WM, but the matchups in this case favor WM. WI is far less dangerous when forced into a 6 on 6 offensive set, and WM is one of the few teams which can prevent them from getting out in transition. WM’s defense will win this game for them, they will get just enough on the offensive end and win 60+% of the faceoffs which will allow them to control possession and keep WI’s high powered offense in check.

Tom DeNapoli breaks the ice for Lynbrook, which now trails GC 7-1 in the third quarter.
Garden City is enjoying one of its best offensive games of the season and leads Lynbrook 10-3 after three quarters.
