St. Anthony’s pulled away for a 17-9 win over rival Chaminade tonight in the CHSAA championship game at Hofstra.

The win was especially sweet for the Friars, who last year suffered a 12-11 overtime loss to Chaminade in the title game.

In their latest meeting, Dante Fantoni had six goals and one assist for the Friars, who outscored the Flyers 3-1 in the second period to go ahead 9-4 at the half.

Will Manny had two goals and three assists for the Friars. Thomas Schreiber had three goals and one assist.

John Hannon led Chaminade with five goals. Matt Gillan scored twice.

To bad ST A’s can’t play in the NYS playoffs, Think they have improved as a team more than some others on LI. Strength of schedule shows in this result.

    Old Rugger,

You couldn’t be more spot on with your comments. I think St. Anthony’s right now may be the best team south of Poughkeepsie.

  3. Thorpe says:
