Laxbuzz: What made you create LaxLessons.com?
The main reasons behind the creation of LaxLessons.com is our passion for the sport of lacrosse and our enthusiasm to spread the game throughout the country. We realized that with the recent rapid growth and expansion of lacrosse, there are new coaches emerging as well as seasoned coaches wanting to learn more. Whether you are a volunteer parent coaching a youth league in Arizona, or a veteran varsity coach in New York, laxlessons.com has everything you need to become a better coach. We also understand that many of these coaches have full-time jobs making it tough for them to draw up new plays and strategies or to come up with an efficient, well thought-out practice plan everyday. With LaxLessons, you are just one click away from drills, workouts, plays, practice plans, etc. The way we see it, better coaches equal better players and programs. LaxBuzz: What age group of players are you trying to reach? LaxLessons is not limited to a specific age group. We have enough variation in our plays, drills, and workouts to suite the ability of any lacrosse player, from youth beginner to college standout. Whatever your level, Laxlessons has something to fit your individual need. Right now Laxlessons is mainly geared towards the men’s side of lacrosse, but much of our information can be carried over to the women’s side as well. LaxBuzz: Western U.S. student-athletes are wanting to impress east coast coaches. Can you name some of the top coaches and programs who are contributors to LaxLesson? Laxlessons is a compilation of plays, strategies, drills, etc that we’ve picked up over our 4 years playing D1 lacrosse at Loyola College in Maryland. When you play Syracuse, Hopkins, Duke, Georgetown, etc every year having to devote an entire week of studying their plays and tendencies, you find that your “Lacrosse I.Q.” becomes very high. LaxBuzz: What are the most important things boys and girls can do to improve their game? The most important thing any lacrosse player, boy or girl, can do to improve their game is to understand that there is always room for improvement. That coupled with self-motivation, practice, and a fire to compete your best every time you take the field, will continuingly take you to the next level. As you excel in lacrosse, and begin to compete on a higher level you quickly learn that someone else is bound to have a harder shot on the run, someone else’s split dodge is faster than yours, and your decisions on the field are never smart enough. Understanding where natural talent and athleticism end and discipline and knowledge of the game begin is where laxlessons comes in.
