Senior Danny Donatelli and Yorktown hope to beat longtime regional rival Wilton for the first time since 2008 tonight in Wilton.

It’s seeding time, gang.

Starting today, we will be learning who will be playing when and when in the sectional and conference playoffs in the nation’s No. 1 hotbed for lacrosse, the Hudson Valley/Long Island/Connecticut region.

We expect to have the Section 1 seeds sometime around late this morning or early afternoon. As soon as they’re available, you can access them at msgvarsity.com by clicking here. So be sure to keep checking back. The seedings for Long Island will be posted here.

Be sure to check back at msgvarsity.com for the seedings in Nassau, Suffolk and the FCIAC.

As the seedings come in, it will be interesting to break down and dissect the matchups.

But we won’t have too much time to do that because downstate New York first-round games are on Thursday and the semifinals are less than a week away — on Monday, May 23. For the full schedule up through the state finals, click here.

We still have some regular-season games to play before we start the postseason and had some interesting ones yesterday.

Greenwich outlasted Lakeland/Panas 13-12 in overtime as David Dickson scored the game-winner in yet another FCIAC vs. Section 1 down-to-the-wire affair.

In a game that could be a preview of a Suffolk County playoff clash, Ward Melville held off East Islip 10-5 as Tyler Hegarty scored four goals and Will Mazzone and Jack Bruckner each had two goals.

Also of note, Kennedy Catholic pulled off a hidden-ball trick for a goal in a 12-11 win over Croton.

Highlighting today’s slate is the renew of the tradition rich Yorktown-Wilton rivalry. The annual series began when Yorktown Jim Turnbull and his counterpart at Wilton, Guy Whitten, both legendary high school coaches, were looking to play top competition in the region.

Today, the winning team receives the Turnbull Cup, honoring the man who guided the Huskers to five of their six state titles. Wilton has won 17 state championships in its proud history.

The Warriors have won two straight against the Huskers, a streak that coincides with the arrival of coach John Wiseman, himself a former Wilton standout. Wilton won 15-7 last year and 8-6 in 2009 after the Huskers prevailed 17-10 in 2008.

Here’s today’s schedule:

Comsewogue at Islip, 4 p.m.
Staples at St. Joseph, 4 p.m.
Sayville at Miller Place, 4 p.m.
Freeport at Calhoun, 4:15 p.m.
Massapequa at East Meadow, 4:15 p.m.

        • jj fan says:

          thanks

        • Old Rugger says:

Nyack at 3 gives Town a better path to finals than Somers gets. If rye gets to finals it will be a success in beating JJ and Somers. Town just has to beat one of those three to win it all, and none of these guys are getting past LI his year. Not enough horses.

          • laxman says:

agreed. This year is just for winning the section and having section bragging rights. Don’t see any of them beating GC or Set

        • laxman says:

5/19 is a thursday.. is 11 am a typo? wouldn’t the game be at 4:30?

  10. HAM says:

What does the class B bracket look like?

  11. PV parent says:

Maybe someday strength-of-schedule will be considered in the seedings. Pville is seeded #1 but SOS they are 43/50 in section 1. Yeah, I know they beat us; that’s not the point. The system allows for fudging your schedule to come out on top, but only in the early rounds.

    • Old Rugger says:

PV Parent understand where you are comming from and agree some adjustnment for SOS is in order. There is no way Bville wants to play you guys in the first round. Besides SOS is a good way to prepare for out of section games latter in playoffs. Thats why I like BH to make it to finals against Bville they played a much tougher schedule which should show itself come playoffs.

      • slacrosse says:

Rye or Jay to eliminate one or other in quarterfinals??? Yeah I’m for some SOS figured into the play-off schedule.

        • NYmike says:

I’m no math genius, but I bet after all these points were awarded in this convoluted system, IF after that you multiplied those numbers by SOS weighted average value, and then by RPI value – perhaps that would add more clarity to the real picture. Those folks at LaxPower aren’t stupid, those numbers are there for a reason. And does the NCAA not use those numbers (hello Stony Brook)? Considering this is a “hotbed” for HS lacrosse, one would think it would be afforded a more collegiate level of assessment playoff-wise.

          • Old Rugger says:

Section 11 uses something along those lines I’m sure LI Lax can give us a tutorial. I liked the old power league but hopefully we have outgrown it and can use somehting like theirs.

  12. Mamk says:

    Whats class A?

    • Lax says:

Looks like Pac has a pretty easy path to the finals.

  14. westchester111 says:

Don’t forget about Comsewogue lax man

  15. NYmike says:

Shout out to Greeley: #21 and #2 – kids have class. #2 – glad you were there. It’s all good.

  16. HV Fan says:

Why is Put Valley in the playoffs? They didnt win 25% of their games

    • TB Toad says:

Does it matter? 25% criteria is a joke.

    • wizard2 says:

they won 50% of the league “C” games. Plus you get 2 points for loses agianst teams .750 or better which they had 6 of +-.
      l/p.town,jj,pac,suff,bxville,somers

    • PV parent says:

We won 25% of class C (see the qualifying criteria). Played a strong schedule, unlike some others.

    • PV parent says:

      Actually, 50% of class C.
An off year, with injuries, vacations, lots of 9 & 10 grade rookies starting. Like weight-training, you get stronger.

      • D-Pac says:

You’ll be better next year with a lot of younger kids playing this year. You’re a class team with a great coach.

  17. LI Lax says:

Comsewogue and Islip are tied 2-2 with 2:47 to go in the first

  18. BudLax says:

Wow. Your not kidding. Pac could play thier backups and still probably make the Finals.

Suffern – Mamo could be a tight game – upset alert there.

Id say its gunna be Pac and LP in the finals. LP puts up a good fight, but Pac more talent across the board wins 12-9

    • The Boy Who Cried Wolf says:

Suffern will not lose to Mamo. Nothing against Mamo but Suffern is clicking at the right time and they have received stellar goaltending of late from “Sleepy” Mike Johnson…Not to mention Mamaroneck will be thrown in to the most hostile environment they have seen all year! VIVA BUTTERFLAG

    • D-Pac says:

From your lips to God’s ears Nostredamus!

    • Long Time laxer says:

Suffern – Mamk will be close only because McNally is happy to win 3-2. Mamo can play some good D and might be able to keep suffern from scoring a lot, but Mamk won’t be able to score enough to win

    • i'm blue da ba dee da ba die says:

Suffern-Mamo isn’t going to upset. People really underestimate Hammershlag, Sharp, McNally, Eastwood, Puncar, Johnson, etc. just because they are unfamiliar. These guys are great players are will come up big.

      Predictions:

      Quarterfinals: Suffern 8 – Mamo 3
      Semifinals: Suffern 8 – LP 7

Not going to make a finals prediction yet, but we’ll see…

  19. LI Lax says:

5-5 as Islip ties the game on the extra man

  20. slacrosse says:

    CT Fans,

I had heard that the coaches have some say in final play-off rankings schedule which is first based on a formula? Not true? Any color?

    • Blue White says:

For the FCIAC that is true http://www.fciac.net/standings/springstandings/boyslax.html

I believe the top 8 coaches quorum and vote on the seedings though a coach can not vote on his own team’s seeding.

      • Lax Novice says:

Correctamundo. The eight teams qualify via a points system, then all the coaches meet, Thursday this week I believe, and each coach ranks the other teams 1-7, and the results are compiled to determine the seedings and Saturday’s quarterfinal matchups. This year there’s quite a pile-up with the teams 2-6 pretty much beating each other up. The only matchups that can be reasonably predicted is Darien hosting Fairfield Ludlowe and Staples heading to Ridgefield, and even those are not shoo-ins.

All that really matters is playing well at this time of year, that’s what people will ultimately remember.

        • slacrosse says:

          Thx.

Good to see that the coaches have input. Nothing is perfect but Section 1 should follow this lead in some way.

  21. LI Lax says:

    FINAL: Comsewogue 7, Islip 6

    • Old Rugger says:

Thanks LI Lax, I thought wogue would win this one by a few (3) goals what did Islip do to keep it close?

  22. totally confused says:

Can someone explain how the seeding was done for Section 1? was it strictly on record? I don’t understand how New Rochelled is a 3 seed and Arlington is a 4. No disrespect, just don’t see it, especially when Arlington lost to Lakeland

    • westchester111 says:

yeah bro im not sure on the point system, lakeland gets the 5.They reward a team thats 14-2 over a team thats 9-5 for example. The 14-2 beat up on scrubs, while the 9-5 beat section 1 opp., but lost to li and ct

      • westchester111 says:

The current system allows for weak teams(playing cupcakes) that would get pounded by the actual top teams in the sction to get the higher seed.It really doesnt matter all that much in my opinion, except for the fact that we will have Jay-Rye in the quarters which is ridiculoussss?????????????

    • PV parent says:

    • RedandWhite says:

Does anyone know when AA’s are announced?

    • sect1lax says:

no pac players on the bubble? other than berardis how about bota, carey, or verde? im just wondering

      • slacrosse says:

Would have been safer to just have one big “on the bubble” class and leave it there. The “on the” and “close to” bubble classes were really close for me and selected subjectively as were all my picks. I know Bernardis was very close in my mind to getting put on the “on the bubble” list.

Bota/Carey. I blew it. Honestly I didn’t think of either and should have. Real good players. So I’m officially putting them on my “close to bubble” category.

        • D-Pac says:

#24 Parrillo on Pac has been solid all year. If not AA should definately be all section. Always plays other teams top attackman and pretty much shuts them down. Hey S, you even were impressed by him.

          • slacrosse says:

Yeah very true. Definitely throw Parillo on my “close to”bubble category. Sorry. think I would have done better recalling guys with some rosters in front of me. Don’t know why I blanked out on Pac, some of my favorite fans

Luckily the only people that count are the coaches who hopefully won’t miss any players that merit the AA or All Section designation, or any other honors.

        • sect1lax says:

haha alright no hating on you. but otherwise agree with your opinions

    • str8_lax says:

Andrew Billups for New Ro is a beast and would starter for any of the top teams in the section 1 no question! Check him out on Saturday if you’re around!

    • confused. says:

      slacrosse-

I would love to get your thoughts on three players.

      1) Landis

      2) Stern

      3) Lambert

what awards will all three receive this year and what do you project for them next year?

      Thanks

      • slacrosse says:

        Landis
A super multi-sport athlete (football, hockey-state finals) to start with. Saw him over the summer. What really impressed me was his foot speed, balance and stick aggressiveness. These attributes allowed him to start covering a middie far out without much fear of being beat. Think this Notre Dame recruit needs to continue developing his stick skills and lax IQ. Still has 1.5 yrs to improve before entering ND. Playing for a lower level team and easy schedule will slow him down but good summer play will be a +. Dont see him as AA given being a Jr and from a lower tier team. Next season, if Pelham can put up a strong record, as a Senior he has a much better chance to make AA.

        Lambert
I’ve only seen him play maybe once this season so not a lot of 1st hand info. But from what I’ve heard and based upon being a UNC recruit I assume he’s a very talented player. As a soph, I also assume as with Landis that he needs to continue developing skills and lax IQ which he will. Playing for a great Jay program is an obvious + as he sees tough competition and scheduling all the time. As he’s a soph dont see him making AA this season but most likely he makes it next season assuming Jay has a strong record.

        Stern
This junior from Rye has really improved from last season and has become a real scoring threat on his own “creates” and from assists to him (and from him)in front of the cage. Maybe Section honors this season and next (more so then AA) if he and the team have good yrs.

So can you please tell me what you predict they will all receive next year.

          • slacrosse says:

            Landis

            Lambert
            ’11 Section ’12 Prob AA/Section

            Stern
            ’11 Maybe Section ’12 Section

          • yesorno says:

            I can agree with that

        • confused. says:

slacrosse- so what award do you predict they will win this season and next season?

        • P&G says:

slacrosse, I can fill in some blanks on Lambert – as I have watched him extensively over the last 2 years. Started last year as a freshman on a JJ team that lost only to Manhasset and Nisky. Scored the back-breaker goal in the sectional finals against Somers – off of a face off (a la CJ Costabile). Commited to UNC in between his frosh and soph season. Playing both LSM and close D this year and has countless take-aways with as a bunch of goals and assists. Athleticism is top notch, stick skills the same. If he was not a soph should be considered for AA right now. Predicting AA’s in the future is tough (as you allude to regarding team performance). I have only seen one defenseman (in Section 1) as good or better this year and that was Schurr from Somers. Lambert held Costigan, Bonaventura, Buckanavage in check at LSM. He is the real deal.

Limited visibility with Landis, who seems like he has that athleticism (speed & strength) that you can’t teach.

I’ll defer to you on Stern as you see him much more than I have.

          • slacrosse says:

Thx. Top player for sure and cant say I’m looking forward to seeing him vs Rye on Sat!

Both teams are way improved from the last time they played, the 1st or second game in the season for both teams.

No predictions other then assume we’ll see a tough, well played game ending in a close score.

          • magicfingers says:

stern is the real deal. he can dodge when he needs to. he is VERY quick and can shake off any defender. He can also finish anything that is thrown at him. I say he has a shot at all section this year and MAYBE has a shot at AA next year (but that is a long shot).

  25. lax lesson1 says:

    slacrosse-

I agree with most of it, but you are a rye guy. Barton and Bonaventura should be in the close to the bubble category, and stern should not even be on the list of other names.

    • lax lesson1 says:

also. collins isnt a lock, or even close.

    • Rlax says:

Barton puts up big numbers but I don’t think he’s AA worthy. What about the defensemen from Fox Lane, or Greeley, that held him to ZERO goals?
he has one move, he charges hard and tries to get a shot off around the defenders body. easiest move to defend.

all this bloggin is just not necessary, Suffern Lax is too good, too fast, too strong! And just when ur fed up with their incredible lax’ing abilities WATCH OUT! THE WBB WILL BE IN YOUR HEAD ALL DAY

    SUFFERNS GOT THE 1 SEEEEEDDDD!

    • Mamaroneck says:

a number 1 seed means nothing

      • The Boy Who Cried Wolf says:

It means that Suffern will have homefield throughout and it means that there will be Wall Ball Balling going on the rest of the way. But to keep the focus on the team I think they can make a deep run due to the goaltending of Mike Johnson and the defense of Kyle Eastwood, Andrew Lawson, Jake Jaeger and Eddie Puncar. They also have a strong midfield and the Eric Hammershlag led attack can really put the ball in the old onion bag

    • hudvalax says:

To bad you wont even make the finals in your home town. Ive never seen so much hype for a team that has beaten not a single quality team. Not one

      • The Boy Who Cried Wolf says:

I think people from Westchester find it hard to believe that students actually take in interest in their school’s sport and go to the games to support. Thats the reason why I love being in Rockland and not Westchester

        • Elephant Man says:

Wrong dude. Ever hear of The Crop at Yorktown or the 12th Man at Somers. They would blow you guys away. Nothing against Suffern or Rockland but the WBB are not anywhere close to those guys.

          • The Boy Who Cried Wolf says:

I will give you that I know that those two schools have great crowds but the WBB are really doing some good creative things this year. I doubt that The Crop or the 12th Man have intricate goal songs like the WBB. They are great I’m not disputing that but we work with what we’ve got. And I also should have mentioned that I was talking about all sports. I will say that the atmosphere of Pearl River Tappan Zee basketball games go unmatched

          • sect1lax says:

Mahopac Maniacs, Ytowns Crop, somers 12th man, carmels crowd? look up on youtube the mahopac football homecoming video. or on the ytowns basketbal video vs mahopac….insanity

          • sect1lax says:

and 1 more thing. in the paper for basketball and football school spirit crowd the rankings were ytown, pac, then pearl river. so think of pearl river x5. witnessed it myself…on that like i posted go to 630 and then you will see a crowd. that wasnt even the section final game. suffern doesnt know school spirit. even the hockey game vs pac was weak showing and wasnt even crowded.

          • i'm blue da ba dee da ba die says:

Suffern may not be the most spirited school, but the WBB are trying to change that. Plus, the WBB are exclusively for lax.

The Suffern crowd at the Monroe-Woodberry playoff hockey game was pretty intense too, by the way. Sporto filled up within 10 minutes. Maybe Suffern fans just didn’t see Pac as much of a threat in terms of hockey….

          • The Boy Who Cried Wolf says:

The crowd was not “weak” at that game. I heard one kid from Suffern took a puck to the back of the head and took it like a champ…He didn’t go down and walked out like a champ!

          • i'm blue da ba dee da ba die says:

Nobody is saying that the WBB have the biggest numbers. But I think anybody who has seen us knows our creativity is unparalleled.

          • The Boy Who Cried Wolf says:

I heard that some of the WBBers have written around 10 songs that they sing to specific players throughout the course of the game…

          • sect1lax says:

haha alright even with no size u have some creativity. may be a little wierd and not to loud but hey, its better then some schools that dont even have spirit.

          • The Boy Who Cried Wolf says:

            Sect1lax
It is a lot weird and we are actually pretty loud despite the numbers

  40. […] After all, yesterday was seedings day, with playoff matchups unveiled in downstate New York. If you weren’t following along the way, it was quite an eventful one. You can get a quick recap by clicking here. […]

  41. North County Parent says:

It may be too late to interject in this discussion of seeding, but here goes:

I am a “one and done” lax parent so while I conceptually get the “geater good” theory I of course want my kid to get the best seed or have the best chance to get to finals. But the analogy to Mt Vernon basketball posted earlier is most appropriate in this discussion.

Regardless of seed would the coaches at Pac, L/P, JJ, Somers, Town (I don’t know Rye) change the schedule they worked hard on in the fall? I doubt it.

Town plays for at least 3 “Cups”. JJ had a team from CA visit them, not to mention the LI and CT teams they play. Somers (which has the best pre-season scrimmage around) and L/P had top ranked teams from LI and Western NY visit over spring break and played at West Point. I’m sure PAc and Rye have similar tales.

My point is, seedings (and my kid’s HS career) are year to year…but these programs are being built for the long haul.

Remember, its not the seed you start at its where you finish. Sure its too bad that some great teams may meet early, but then again they may not – upsets are possible. Its how the list of great Section 1 teams gets bigger.

    Good luck to all.

    • NYmike says:

Well – I feel you on that, we all pull for our kids no matter the sport or the program – that said, lax is path, not a future – see it for what it is. Seedings? mean nothing. Win, and you will have a story to tell that will mean nothing in 5 years. Your boss won’t give a rat’s A$$. Who were the AAs in 2004? Good for them, they have surely moved on.

    • GreenBear says:

Great Points by both “North County” and “NYMike”…

    • str8_lax says:

That’s what I’m talking about North County. If only more people were as rational as you. Its about time the section 1 teams rally together to build up the section as a whole. I’m tired of hearing my college teammates from LI say, “Section 1 lax is good, but you know what happens when you see LI teams in the state playoffs.” Think about it, the stronger the section gets, the less teams will have to go outside the section to play other teams with the mentality that it will prepare them for post season play. Not to mention, think about what earning a top seed does for a program like Sleepy Hollow, or Dobbs Ferry. The fact of the matter is, for most people, wins and making the post season are what matters most. They can be the difference in the amount of new entrants to a youth program or modified team for the following season, thus translating into future success on the field. And yes, I do believe the cream rises to the top. And as for certain teams possibly meeting in the quarters instead of the semis or the finals I will say this. Isn’t that why we play the games…..For a little competition? And if you win it all, doesn’t it make it that much sweeter?

    • ReLAX says:

Thanx for the mentioning my Knights! I was w/ em in Honolulu when they went 3-1 & took 3rd in the Iolani Classic(16 team tourney) & I was w/ em in Glens Falls & Albany when they took states & federation titles. The cream always rises to the top. B in lax is like AA in hoops. When Rye & JJ have to meets in the qtrs it shows depth & great teams. The rockland teams throw a wrench in things but if you’re like the knights you WIN

  42. Cold One says:

Thank You NC Parent. Well said and you obviously Get It!!

  43. Scoop says:

Suffern, WBB etc. I forgot How many Section 1 Titles do you guys Have???

    • The Boy Who Cried Wolf says:

WBB has 0 and we will never have any because it is the players who win the games. We just enjoy helping them achieve their goals. Sorry for caring Scoop. And we are hoping the team can change that this year, so jump on our bandwagon!

  44. slacrosse says:

    Lax Novice,

Well begrudging but nonetheless sincere congrats on CT’s W/L record over Section 1. I had hoped for and really thought Town would win a close one over Wilton.

Hopefully we can all do this again next season.

Will be closely following the FCIAC playoffs.

    • Lax Novice says:

It’s not as if Rye didn’t carry more than their share of water for Section One, beating both of their FCIAC opponents. Rye’s really playing well at the right time of year, that’s what getting healthy and sticking with the overall plan will do for a team. Good luck in the sectionals!

  45. laxr says:

For those of you who care about lax outside of the reason, the MIAA just had a ridiculous finish in it its semi-final matchup between Gilman and Boys’ Latin. Gilman scores three MAN DOWN goals in the final minute of the game to force OT, and goes on to win 7-6 in OT.

  46. Laxwell Smart says:

Good luck to all teams in this year’s playoffs in Westchester and Long Island and soon – Connecticut too!

  47. Old Rugger says:

Lets go JJ and Kennedy make some noise in the playoffs!

  48. Calculus says:

Well with all the points and games and math when the eraser shavings are brushed away yoir still going to get in the finals:

    Mahopac vs Lake/ Panas

    JJ vs Yorktown

And in C. Bronxville vs ????????????

    • The Boy Who Cried Wolf says:

      Thats what you think…

    • ReLAX says:

Don’t count out Rye in B…they looked good vs Greenwich & could get to the finals. Pville in C is easy they’re on the weak side of that draw

    • i'm blue da ba dee da ba die says:

Explain to me how LP over Suffern is a sure thing. Suffern lost to LP by one goal during the regular season and they had the lead most of the game. It’ll be a good game, but I think Suffern will come away with it if “Sleepy” Mike Johnson plays the way he has lately.

      • ReLAX says:

You might win, but honestly the incessant noise coming out of you & your counterpart(s) has caused many to dismiss your team. It would be awesome to see you guys be a Lil humbler. I’ll be pulling for the Tigers tomorrow. I jumped on their bandwagon when I watched em give Bville their only loss of the year in an OT thriller. Bville is highly touted & expected to win the section. They’ve gotten my ire for the same reasons A) a light schedule, but at least you guys played L/P & Pac & B) a lack of just excepting success & playing ball. Truthfully, the bronco bloggers have been alot quieter & know their team will do well. You guys are acting like you’ll win the section w/ all the gloating on your 1 seed. The ville fans are happy w/ a 2 & they should be. It pits them against Weaker comp. Pville’s got BH or SH to deal w/ & you’ll have L/P. Let it play out. Act like you’ve been there a Lil more. Your the only fan base that won’t stop talking about yourselves.

        • i'm blue da ba dee da ba die says:

The WBB are proud of our players and the team as a whole. We have watched the team all season and have seen what they can do. We are just trying to get some love for a team that is essentially neglected by the blogging community simply because of location. Are we really going to travel over the bridge for every game? No, of course not. That shouldn’t matter. People should recognize that we are one of the top 3 teams in this section and have a chance at making it to the finals and possibly winning. It is our mission to make sure that people recognize it. God bless Suffern Lax, and God bless the Wall Ball Ballers.

          • The Boy Who Cried Wolf says:

Top 3 in class A for sure. Tough to say all of Section 1 but hey could be!

We have a facebook and a twitter (@WallBallBallers). Sorry for being immature and maybe a little overzealous but we are just excited for our friends who are actually talented enough to play on the team. Don’t call us classless because you don’t know any of us. Yes we like to talk “smack” on blogs if thats what you wanna call it but have I ever written badly about a player or individual on this blog? No. Forgive me for caring about my high school’s athletics. If you would like to get to know us any better you know where to find us. Suffern Middle School at 11 am on Saturday. I apologize for anything I may have said that offended you but don’t you dare call me classless from behind your computer screen.

        • The Boy Who Cried Wolf says:

I can agree that sometimes some Suffern bloggers like myself get a little slap happy on these blogs and we loooove to talk up Suffern but please don’t dismiss the team. We are just fans of the team and I can assure you that the WBB doesn’t win the games. We wanna be enthusiastic about our team and that is it. Sorry if we don’t seem to stop talking up Suffern Lax but we love them and we are darn proud of getting that 1 seed and if you go to any of Suffern’s remaining games you will be sure to hear about it! W/ it & “don’t you dare call them classless”, but really they are quite histarical & I must say witty. I remember one of em asking someone. “and where do you hail from good sir” They do love there team & that’s good. It’s just become too much. Mamaroneck looked great today & I pray the Tigers prey on Sleepy Mike & the WBB. Viva la TIGER. Losing quiets them all. Have modesty. Walk quietly & carry a machete!!! I Love the Tiger D & Goalie wouldn’t it be great if another rockland team goes down…this time they’re a 1 & they lose to an 8 Love It!!!!

          • LoveTownLax says:

me too, ReLAX. (go back to the Nelsons, that is) and yes, there is nothing so classy as when a team (or it’s fans) acts like they’ve been there before…. It’s good to have a supportive fan base, but this WBB propaganda is… oy! Suffern should be proud of their regular season, but now it’s Post-Season and anything can happen.. I say just “Let them Play!” You get the love when you get the “W!”

          • The Boy Who Cried Wolf says:

How did Ossining make the B playoffs after playing a C schedule all year?

Don’t get me wrong congrats to them and I know they’re in a total rebuild with freshman and all but I don’t see how they qualify to play in the B bracket – shouldn’t they be in the C bracket?

    • LoveTownLax says:

over in the corner… The “Class” a team competes in for post-season – in the case of Ossining it is B – is based on the schools population. During the regular season teams play the others in their “league” (based loosely on geography and strength of the team) but in Post-Season you are seeded on your total season record (controversial as the seeding process is!) in comparison to the other teams in that Class. “A” being the largest schools, etc. Each team plays teams in various classes in regular season.

      • also says:

Corner…you will also note that there were C teams like Bxville and Byram that played virtually all of their games vs. A and B teams, but at playoff time they go back to their class dictated, as like LoveTownLax pointed out, by school population…O’s geo league contained a lot of C schools, but they are a B size
