The commitments continue to roll in, gang.

If you checked out our “Updated recruiting review and commitment rundown” just tonight alone, you learned the college destinations of the following standouts from the Hudson Valley/Long Island/Connecticut region:

* Lakeland/Panas high-scoring attackman Rob Caffrey will join Providence College of the newly formed Big East Conference.

* St. Joseph’s (Trumbull) stars Pat Corcoran and Pat Mulligan will be teammates at nearby Quinnipiac University.

* Newtown attackman Lewis Thompson will be heading to the Midwest to play, at Wittenberg University.

* Farmingdale attackman/midfielder Sal Tuttle is headed to Hofstra.

* Ossining defenseman Mike Zavarella has decided on Western New England College.

Meanwhile, yet another Somers standout has decided on a college.

Senior defensive midfielder Matt Dalton, a technically sound student of the game with good stick skills, will continue his career at Division III power Springfield College.

Here’s a Q&A with Matt on his commitment:

What were the main factors in your decision to attend Springfield?
I felt that Springfield was the best fit for me, both academically and athletically. I am interested in majoring in Sports Psychology and minoring in coaching. Springfield has a very strong reputation in both fields.  I visited multiple times and feel that Springfield gives me the best opportunity to excel as a student-athlete at the collegiate level.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I spent a lot of time visiting schools and meeting with coaches.  In the end, I narrowed it down to Springfield, Western New England and Endicott.

What adjustments do you think you will need to make to play at the next level?
I think the greatest adjustment will be in becoming accustomed to the speed of the game.  I also need to continue to work hard in the weight room to increase my strength and size.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My strengths would be my speed and agility, but most of all my lacrosse IQ.

What players have had the biggest influences on you?
I love to watch college lacrosse and got to watch Army play a lot.  Their LSM, Bill Henderson, impressed me from the first time I saw him play.  I like to do many of the same things as him on the field and model my game after his.

When did you first realize you had the potential to play at the college level?
It was always my goal to play at the college level, and I always believed that if I worked hard enough, I could achieve that goal.
