Hey gang –

I have a feeling you’re going to be hearing a lot about Arlington High School in the coming years.

With one of the largest enrollments of any high school in the state, I have thought for a long time that the Admirals could be a sleeping giant.

As the popularity of lacrosse has continued to surge, so too has interest in the program in the community.

That is now beginning to become evident on the recruiting front.

Jesse Troy, a senior defenseman for Arlington, told me late last night that he has committed to one of the nation’s top Division II programs — Le Moyne.

Troy was also recruited by Providence, Marist, Clarkson and Roger Williams.

Here is a Q&A with Jesse on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision to attend Le Moyne?
The level of competition they play at was definitely a factor and also to get the chance to play during championship weekend is always something iIve wanted to do since I started playing.

When did you visit the campus and what were your thoughts?
I went for my overnight on one of the first weekends in October and the guys on the team just made me feel like I was already apart of the team. It’s a nice campus right near ‘Cuse, so that’s cool, and they’re putting in a new turf field, so that’s going to be good. They have a D-I baseball program. They’ve got some talented athletes up there along with the lacrosse guys.

When did you first start playing lacrosse, and how did you discover the sport?
(UMBC John Jay senior Brandon) Merlino got me into it in ninth grade since he was going to school at Arlington as well. We would just mess around in his backyard and he told me I should try out. So I made JV in 10th grade and started on varsity last year.

How would you describe your style of play for someone who has never seen you play?
I pride myself on my stick skills and I like to take advantage of my size when I D-up on an attackmen. I try to combine good positioning with different kinds of checks to get the ball back.
