Bronxville’s Chris Walsh is a dodging
lefty attackman with strong stick skills.

Wesleyan has landed another commitment from one of the top rising senior attackmen in Section 1. Bronxville lefty Chris Walsh has committed to join the program, which is one of the tops in Division III.

“Chris had a great year for us this year, finishing with 28 goals and 21 assists, including the game winning goal in overtime against Fox Lane,” Broncos coach Tim Horgan said. “Chris has been on the varsity since his freshman year, and has taken on more of a leadership role on the field each year, and will be one of three captains for the team this spring.”

Yorktown’s Remy Lieberman committed to Wesleyan last month. Two other former ‘Huskers — sophomore midfielder John Froats and freshman defenseman Brett Cabriele — also play for Wesleyan.

Here’s a Q&A with Chris on his decision.

I was also considering Tufts, Williams, Amherst, Bowdoin, Franklin & Marshall, and Holy Cross. All of the schools I visited were amazing and definitely offered a great opportunity to play at a high level.

When I met with Coach (John) Raba and he toured me throughout Wesleyan I was completely sold. Their freelance offensive style really drew me in along with their enormous success in the NESCAC and Division III over the past few years. The academic reputation of Wesleyan was also was a key part of my selection.

How would you describe your style of play for someone who hasn’t seen you in action?
I am a lefty attackman with good stick skills and pretty good dodging abilities that help me usually draw a slide to create an opportunity for my team. I usually look for the open man instead of going to the cage.

Are you familiar with rising senior Remy Lieberman of Yorktown, who also committed to Wesleyan, and are you looking forward to being teammates with him?
I think I might have played against him in some summer events, but other than that, not really. But yeah, it will be cool to be with other kids from Section 1. I also am planning on going up some time this fall to spend a weekend at Wesleyan to get to know the team.
