We venture west of the tristate for our latest recruiting commitment profile.
Far west, in fact, to Las Vegas, where lax is on the rise.
Grant Gravitt knows all about it.
The junior attackman, who has thrived at Faith Lutheran High School in Las Vegas, will soon be taking his act to the major Division I level.
Gravitt verbally committed to the University of Denver, as first reported on Sunday at Twitter.com/joe_lombardi.
Known for his array of ball fakes and ability to both dodge and feed from X, Gravitt has a high lacrosse IQ and outstanding field vision.
Now, here’s a Q&A with Grant on his commitment.
What were the main factors in your decision?
The coaching staff at Denver is second to none. It’s not too far from home, but not too close. It’s a great school and a great program to be apart of and I’m very excited for the near future.
What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I visited the military academies and also considered BU, Villanova and Georgetown.
What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I would describe my style of play as fast-paced and consistent. I think my vision and lacrosse IQ really stand out on the field.
What area of your game do you need to work on?
There is always room for improvements throughout my entire game. I’m going to really try to keep elevating myself as a player day in and day out.
How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
My neighbor played lacrosse and I was immediately hooked after playing mini sticks in the backyard a few times. I also have played soccer for my school and hit the links whenever I can get out and play.
What travel team did you play on last summer and what showcase events did you participate in?
I play on the Vegas Starz as well as the West Coast Starz 2014 team.
I participated in the Adrenaline Shootout & Showcase, High Rollers, Terrapin Classic, NSCLA tournament, Adrenaline Challenge, UMass Midsummer Classic and Top 205.
