The New York state varsity boys lacrosse championship games have traditionally alternated between Syracuse and Long Island for the most part.
But this coming season, the title games will have a new site.
Faller Field at Middletown High School in New York’s Orange County, located about 85 miles northwest of Nassau County and 190 miles southeast of Syracuse, will be the host site for the three class championship games in 2012.
Middletown’s state-of-the-art sports complex, which opened in 2008, was the host site of the 2009 state semifinals.
The 2012 downstate semifinals will be held at Stony Brook University. The upstate semifinals will be held at Cicero-North Syracuse High School, the site of the 2011 state finals. The 2010 state finals were held at Stony Brook University. In a departure from the Syracuse/Long Island alternation, the 2009 state title games were played in Rochester.

Nice to change things up a bit. Although that was the case with Rochester in 09 but that is just too far away from NYC area.
Sounds like a nice opportunity for Middletown. It’s not as far for Syracuse folks as Long Island and about the same distance as Long Island is for folks in Westchester.
Yeah, been there. Don’t know how they got this great facility (= to or better then many D3 schools) through a budget vote!!
KInda cool we won’t have to go all the way up to Cuse.
It definitely is nice to have it somewhere in between Syracuse and LI for a change.
