Aaron Moroney has the speed and smarts to make an immediate impact at Towson University.

That’s where the Canadian native, a senior at Millbrook School in New York’s Hudson Valley, is headed.

Here’s a Q&A with the lefty long-stick midfielder/defenseman on his choice:

What were the main factors in your decision to attend  Towson?
I chose Towson for a number of reasons.

It’s in the Baltimore hotbed of lacrosse with Hopkins, Maryland, UMBC and Loyola minutes away. It’s the No. 1 program at the university with all games broadcast on ESPN (family of networks). The university itself is beautiful the facilities are outstanding and it’s only about 20,000 students.

Academically, they offer over 100 undergrad degrees and all classes are taught by professors not teaching assistants. Towson has a Hall of Fame coach in Shawn Nadelen and he played on Team USA

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I considered Syracuse, Brown, Robert Morris, UMass, Lehigh and Bryant.

What adjustments do you think you will need to make to play at the next level?
I think I need to get into the gym and improve on my athleticism, and being Canadian, I have a dominant hand, so I need to improve my off-hand.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My strengths would be my ability to move the ball and start transition and playing smart with lots of talk on defense and not playing outside of myself.

Millbrook School has four seniors bound for D-I schools. Is that a source of pride heading into next season?
Having four seniors committed to D-I schools is a great source of pride for not only us, but for our team and school and we should have a great year.

When did you first realize you had the potential to play at the college level?
I first realized playing with the Edge program and seeing my ability improve with the tough American competition we played.
